Pulao mangodi (badiyon) ka

In simple language pulao is a dish made of rice and spices with different “ingredients “which does the nomenclature of pulao like veg pulao,GATTA  pulao, mangodi pulao, chana dal pulao and so on .The list is endless.

During summer pulao friendly vegetables like cabbage,flower,peas,carrots etc are not available .
Then we use gatte,mangodi  or chana dal.
Here I am giving the recipe of mangodi pulao




All ingredients are easily available in you pantry .


One cup rice
1/4 cup mangodi of moong dal
5 tablespoon oil
1 table spoon salt
1 teaspoon jeera or cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
A pinch of hing
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 green chilli finely chopped
1 tabspoon finely chopped green coriander,and mint leaves .
1 teaspoon grated ginger




Wash and soak rice in water .Crush mangodi in the size of  smaller version of green peas .
In a cooker add oil and when it is hot enough then turn of the heat add hing and mangodis

Stir well and add chilli powder,turmeric jeera and salt keep on stirring and when mangodis turn golden brown then add soaked rice .Add three cups of water and stir and put the lid and wait for two whistles.Turn off the flame .After 10 minutes open the cooker and add Garam masala,coriander and ginger,green chillies.and mint .Stir well . Yes 
Mango do pulao is ready to serve .
